Who We Are

Tas 4×4 Tours is an accredited business providing quality, personalised tours throughout the beautiful North East and East Coast of Tasmania. From the comfort of our Toyota Land-Cruiser, in the hands of a highly experienced, capable driver and friendly guide, you need only to relax and enjoy the day.

Dick and Kathy Le Fevre

Tas 4x4 Tours came about when Richard (Dick) and Kathy Le Fevre took two world renowned artists, Chen Ping and Geoff Dyer, on a Photographic and Chinese History Tour. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Ping and Geoff enthusiastically encouraged us to start up this tourism enterprise that they believed offered an “extraordinary once in a lifetime experience”.

Dick was born in St Helens and raised nearby in the lush green farming district of Pyengana until the age of eight when he and his family moved to Launceston.

Binalong Bay, that forms part of the iconic Bay of Fires, has now been a Le Fevre way of life for 5 generations. Dick and his family have always holidayed here. In his younger years, Dick spent a lot of time camping, fishing and exploring the area. Now he and his wife Kathy are lucky enough to live here.

Somewhere special

Local knowledge counts. From the crystal blue sea, through quaint farming villages, to the rainforest and hinterlands – there is much to discover. Dick knows many of those special out of the way places (that often only locals know) and he is happy to take you there and share the stories and history of the area.

We can tailor something special for you. There are many short walks to spectacular rainforests, waterfalls or beaches where you will see breathtaking views. We can take you to try some delicious local produce and even take you on an evening tour to encounter Tasmania's many creatures of the night and our unique flora and fauna.

We only cater for small groups of 1-4 people and your comfort and safety are important to us. Experience matters. Dick has been a professional driver for more than thirty years and he is very familiar with the myriad of gravel forestry roads and many 4 wheel drive tracks. We drive you.

From the mountains to the sea and even bike trails in between....we offer a door-to-door pick up service - making it easy for you to be where you want to be.

We operate all year round. It may be a little cooler in winter but the air is crisp and clear with the lighting just perfect for making your photographs even better.
